From early childhood onwards

Growing up

A child of about 4-5 years has a mature enough brain to understand the worldly subjects and in todays era a child’s catching power is very high.
It would be in the best interest of all that a child is given a separate room by the age of 5. In case the child sleep with you, you should be cautious enough about what you talk with your better half. Usually parents tend to teach the child on the importance of truth but unknowingly go about lying in front of the child, this sets up a wrong example. Also avoid the use of cuss words in front of the child else he will end up learning the same.
Values which will always be with them!!

Refrain from thrashing and verbal abuse

Do not beat up the child ever, nor be verbally abusive by scolding and terrifying him. The young minds are extremely sensitive and undergoing such treatment affects them negatively. They would no longer remain in normal mindset. Such children can feel traumatized and would be fearful, these kids are also prone to getting exploited. You need to deal with your child in a friendly manner such that in case of   any threatening condition, he can always come to you and share the happenings.
If a child has done some mistake or something wrong, instead of thrashing him up make use pf patient talks explaining the consequences of his wrong actions. The child will understand and learn better. Do not create gaps in relationship with your child. The age group of 5-10 years is very critical in terms of learning and character building. The morals and principles taught in this duration will be the building block of a child’s life to a large extent. Teach your child ideologies about humanity, religion, bravery, refrain from scaring your child on the pretext of getting an activity done.

Make Education a fun task

Do participate in educating your child and try to make learning process fun. For eg., teaching a poem along with actions, showing the fruits and telling the names. Child should enjoy the activities enough and learns in the process. Sometimes parents give excuses about their busy lives for not giving enough time to their kids. But just as they have a schedule for food breaks, sleeping etc, they must devote a fixed time for their kids. It is the responsibility of parents to instill the values of humanity, religion, patriotism, bravery and make their offspring a good human being. Refrain from gender discrimination. Son or daughter, make both of them strong- physically and mentally. Exercise as per age groups is a must and will lead to sound growth of the child’s body. Such upbringing is bound to make the child flexible, disease free and healthy. Swimming is an excellent form of exercise that works out every muscle group and in many cases proves to be lifesaving. Be careful while teaching it to your young child.
Ensure that you teach basics like bathing, eating, clothing up, brushing teeth etc by the age of 5 years. This will make the kid independent, else he will become habitual of being dependent on you or on others for carrying out the basic tasks.

Nutrition

Some parents consume drugs, cigarettes or liquor in the presence of their children, this is the worst example you can set up. Refrain from doing this or these impressions will be carried on by the young minds and they too will imitate you in these immoral activities.
Avoid giving deep fried food stuff, packaged stuff like chips to your children. Fried food and fast foods are very harmful for the body. Instead give healthy stuff like soaked soya, soaked or roasted grams (flavored sweet or salty as per the child’s choice), fruits, fruit shakes to them. Healthy foods lead to healthy thoughts & mindset. If however kids like fried food, make light roasted or shallow fried homemade snacks at home. For sweets, use organic jaggery. It is a very healthy and sweet alternative to sugar and is great for overall health. Nothing beats the goodness of fruit shakes made at home. Fruits and milk together are vital to body strength. Your efforts in ensuring a healthy diet will play an instrumental role in the good health and good life of your children. Good food is also vital to retaining youth and slowing of aging process.


Fashion and daily chores

Do not enforce your fashion sense on kids. Ensure that the inner wears are cotton fabrics and are comfortable enough for the child. Dress them as per the occasion and current times, they should feel good and should never get into inferiority complex. Learning the dining etiquettes and basics of simple cutlery like spoon, knife and fork goes a long way in ensuring that the child is at par in the social behavior norms. Give knowledge about every sphere of life, be it banking, daily grocery shopping, cooking, etc so that over the period of time the child grows up to become a self-dependent perfect being. Enjoy with your kids during their vacations, play those games which they like in the way they like. They will open up even more with you and will become best friends with you.

Teach the relevant activities for their age groups, like games, playing, meditation etc. Teach the child to use both English and Indian toilet seat usage. Give proper exposure to various weathers, along with filtered water also use handpump/tap water occasionally to avoid making the child overly sensitive.


If the above tips are followed then it can be assured that such a sensible exposure, proper care and responsible guidance will enable your child to grow up into a healthy, successful, self-dependent and respected citized. The way you nurture your child today will lead to tomorrow’s society.
